rootandClaude Opus 4.6 3f19ad5d93 LLM Team integration: extract mode processes 8 conversations
- process_knowledge.py: routes PDF content through devop.live /api/run
- Uses extract mode: LLM extracts facts/entities/relationships, verifier checks
- 543 extractions (279 facts, 264 entities) from 8 conversations
- 60 verified entries from gemma2 cross-checking
- All stored as queryable Parquet (processed_extractions, processed_validated)
- Streaming SSE parsing for LLM Team responses
- This proves the architecture: Lakehouse storage + devop.live processing

rootandClaude Opus 4.6 bd68b662b7 Update PRD + memory: Observer KB needs devop.live LLM Team mode integration
Observer KB PRD v2:
- Multi-pass pipeline using devop.live's 20 analysis modes
- extract → validate → hallucination-check → consensus → organize → render
- Q&A chain extraction (questions as anchors)
- Curated document output (hand-it-to-someone quality)
- Integration architecture with LLM Team API on :5000

Memory updated with:
- Two-project structure (Lakehouse core + Observer KB)
- What's built vs what's next
- Critical: devop.live modes ARE the multi-pass pipeline
- Next session: integrate Observer KB with LLM Team modes

rootandClaude Opus 4.6 3cf000ccf3 Observer KB: knowledge-first interface (not a PDF viewer)
Rebuilt from scratch around processed/enriched knowledge:

Knowledge tab (default):
- Stats: topic count, decision count, insight count, question count
- Auto-generated categories with mention counts and cross-conversation coverage
- Click category → drill into semantic matches + related decisions
- Extracted decisions (color-coded badges)
- Key insights
- Open questions (unresolved)

Explore tab:
- Semantic search across all extracted knowledge
- Results show relevance scores and source documents

Ask tab:
- RAG query: question → search → context → LLM answer with cited sources
- Full provenance chain

Ingest tab:
- Drag & drop upload with progress
- Note about running extraction pipeline for new files

This is an editorial workflow, not a file browser.

rootandClaude Opus 4.6 2189a6dbee Multi-pass deep analysis workflow: dynamic knowledge discovery
5-pass analysis over extracted knowledge:
1. Corpus overview: LLM characterizes what the data is about
2. Cross-conversation patterns: recurring themes found via SQL + semantic search
3. Decision evolution: contradictions, progressive refinement, consistent principles
4. Gap analysis: recovered knowledge (questions answered elsewhere),
   real gaps (unresolved), blind spots (never discussed)
5. Synthesis: actionable recommendations based on patterns

Demonstrates: SQL (DataFusion) + Vector Search (HNSW) + Local LLM (qwen2.5)
working together for structured analytical workflow.
All local, no data leaves the machine.

rootandClaude Opus 4.6 bf033b2d9d Metacognitive knowledge extraction: 496 topics, 300 decisions, 100 insights
- extract_knowledge.py: LLM processes sampled pages from all conversations
- Extracts structured JSON: topics, decisions, insights, open questions
- Stores as queryable Parquet tables (knowledge_topics, knowledge_decisions,
  knowledge_insights, knowledge_questions)
- Each finding traces to source conversation + page number
- Fixed Unicode chunker crash (byte boundary on multi-byte chars)
- Tested on 8 real ChatGPT PDFs, 477 pages:
  496 topics, 300 decisions, 100 insights, 200 open questions extracted

rootandClaude Opus 4.6 fdb2e9cda8 Fix browser crash: cache schema context, lazy Dashboard, default to Ask tab
Root cause: Dashboard auto-fired 6+ API calls on load, then Ask tab fired
7 DESCRIBE queries per question — 15+ concurrent requests from WASM.

Fixes:
- Schema context cached after first build (7 DESCRIBE → 0 on subsequent questions)
- Dashboard lazy-loads only when tab clicked (not on app mount)
- Default tab changed back to Ask (no background API storm)
- std::sync::Mutex for WASM compat (no tokio in browser)

rootandClaude Opus 4.6 238cb84d26 Server-side pagination for large result sets
- ResultStore: execute query, store batches server-side, serve pages on demand
- POST /query/paged → returns query_id + total_rows + page count (no rows)
- GET /query/page/{id}/{page}?size=100 → returns one page of rows
- RecordBatch slicing for efficient page extraction from Arrow batches
- LRU eviction: keeps 50 most recent query results in memory
- Tested: 100K rows → 1,000 pages of 100, any page fetchable by number
- Supervisor pattern: chunk results, serve on demand, retry-safe (idempotent GET)

rootandClaude Opus 4.6 0bd753294b Robust SQL extraction: handles explanations, markdown, prefixes
clean_sql now uses 3 strategies in priority order:
1. Extract from ```sql...``` markdown blocks
2. Find first SELECT/WITH/INSERT statement in text
3. Strip leading "sql" keyword fallback

Tested against 5 real model output patterns:
- Clean SQL ✓
- "sql" prefixed ✓
- Markdown fenced ✓
- Explanation before ```sql block ✓
- Explanation with SELECT buried in text ✓

rootandClaude Opus 4.6 34c03894ae Auto-retry on ALL SQL errors, not just schema errors
Previous: only retried on "Schema error" or "No field named"
Now: retries on any error (type mismatches, execution errors, etc.)
Model gets full error message + schema to write corrected SQL.

rootandClaude Opus 4.6 ddcbb9590c Fix SQL generation: clean_sql helper + relationship hints + verified
- clean_sql() strips markdown fences, leading "sql" keyword, trailing explanations
- Schema context now includes table relationships (JOIN paths)
- Explicit note: "vertical only in candidates/clients/job_orders, JOIN for others"
- Full column paths (table.column) in schema to reduce ambiguity
- Auto-retry on schema errors feeds error + schema back to model
- TESTED: 4 questions all return correct results:
  "highest avg salary" → IT $2,213 ✓
  "top 5 earning over $50/hr" → correct candidates ✓
  "most placements by vertical" → Industrial 10,096 ✓
  "revenue by client" → 1,996 clients ✓

rootandClaude Opus 4.6 2c5aeaeada Fix SQL generation: stricter prompt + auto-retry on schema errors
- Prompt now says "CRITICAL: ONLY use columns from schema, do NOT invent"
- Strips markdown backticks from model output
- Auto-retry: if SQL fails with "Schema error" or "No field named",
  feeds the error + schema back to the model for a corrected query
- Both button click and Enter key paths have retry logic

rootandClaude Opus 4.6 04770c97eb HNSW vector index: 100K search in 27ms (58x faster than brute-force)
- instant-distance HNSW implementation for approximate nearest neighbors
- HnswStore: build from stored embeddings, in-memory index, thread-safe
- POST /vectors/hnsw/build — build index from Parquet (100K in 35s release)
- POST /vectors/hnsw/search — fast ANN search
- GET /vectors/hnsw/list — list loaded indexes

Benchmark (100K × 768d, release build):
  Brute-force: 1,567ms
  HNSW:           31ms (50x)
  HNSW warm:      27ms (58x)

Build cost: 35s one-time for 100K vectors (release mode)
ef_construction=40, ef_search=50 — good recall/speed balance

rootandClaude Opus 4.6 35f0559d78 Phase 14: Schema evolution with AI migration rules
- Schema diff detection: compare old vs new schema, identify changes
  (added, removed, type changed, renamed columns)
- Fuzzy rename detection: "first_name" → "full_name" detected by shared word parts
- Auto-generated migration rules: direct map, cast, concat, split, drop
  Each rule has confidence score (0.0-1.0)
- AI migration prompt builder: generates LLM prompt for complex schema changes
  LLM suggests JSON migration rules when heuristics aren't enough
- 5 new unit tests (detect added, removed, type change, rename, rule generation)
- 30 total unit tests passing

# PRD: Observer Knowledge Base
**Status:** Active — extraction pipeline proven, needs multi-pass processing via LLM Team modes
**Created:** 2026-03-28
**Owner:** J
**Branch:** `observer-kb`
**Parent:** Lakehouse core (crates/)
---
## Problem
AI conversations generate massive amounts of knowledge that's lost to context windows, hallucination, and scope drift. Current approach (single-pass extraction into categories) produces disorganized, hard-to-validate output. Reading raw pages is not useful — the system needs to process, clean, structure, and curate knowledge like an editorial team.
## Vision
A publishing pipeline that takes raw AI conversation exports and produces well-curated, validated knowledge documents. The output should be something you hand to a team — organized, filtered, and clearly presented. Questions anchor the content, with branching connections showing what was asked, what was answered, and how reasoning was directed.
---
## Architecture
### Multi-Pass Processing via LLM Team Modes
The key insight: devop.live already has 20 analysis modes that process content through structured workflows. The Observer KB should route uploaded data through these modes automatically.
```
Raw PDF Upload
│
▼ Mode: EXTRACT
Structured facts, entities, relationships
│
▼ Mode: VALIDATOR
Fact-check claims, score 1-10 confidence
│
▼ Mode: HALLUCINATION
Verify each claim, flag likely hallucinations
│
▼ Mode: CONSENSUS
Multiple passes iterate until extraction converges
│
▼ Mode: REDTEAM
Find flaws in knowledge, patch them
│
▼ Mode: PIPELINE (custom)
Clean → Q&A structure → topic grouping → value ranking
│
▼ RENDER
Well-curated document: questions as anchors, branching connections,
what was asked → answered → directed
```
### Integration with devop.live (LLM Team)
The Observer KB calls the LLM Team API to run modes against extracted content:
| Mode | Purpose in KB |
|---|---|
| **extract** | Structured facts, entities, relationships from raw text |
| **validator** | Fact-check extracted claims, confidence scores |
| **hallucination** | Verify each factual claim independently |
| **drift** | Process N times, find consistent vs uncertain content |
| **redteam** | Find flaws in extracted knowledge, improve |
| **consensus** | Iterate until multiple passes agree on correct extraction |
| **pipeline** | Chain: clean → extract → validate → organize → render |
| **research** | Generate follow-up questions, research in parallel |
| **blindassembly** | Split content into parts, process independently, reassemble |
### Data Flow
```
Upload Portal (Observer KB :3400)
│
├── PDF → Lakehouse ingestd (text extraction, Parquet storage)
│
▼
Processing Pipeline
│
├── Call devop.live API (:5000) with each mode
├── Each mode processes content through local Ollama models
├── Results stored back in Lakehouse (Parquet + catalog)
│
▼
Knowledge Store
│
├── knowledge_facts: verified claims with confidence scores
├── knowledge_qa: question → answer pairs with context
├── knowledge_topics: auto-generated categories
├── knowledge_connections: how topics relate across conversations
├── knowledge_contradictions: flagged conflicts between conversations
├── knowledge_validated: claims that passed hallucination check
│
▼
Rendering
│
├── Structured knowledge view (web UI)
├── Exportable curated document (PDF/markdown)
└── Question-anchored navigation (Q → A → follow-up → related)
```
---
## Processing Pipeline Detail
### Pass 1: Clean + Structure
- Strip PDF artifacts (headers, footers, page numbers)
- Identify conversation turns (user/AI)
- Fix encoding issues (ligatures, special chars)
- Normalize formatting
### Pass 2: Q&A Extraction
- Identify questions asked by user
- Map each question to its answer
- Track follow-up questions and how they branch
- Build question→answer→follow-up chains
### Pass 3: Fact Extraction + Validation
- Run EXTRACT mode: pull structured facts, entities, relationships
- Run VALIDATOR mode: score each fact 1-10 confidence
- Run HALLUCINATION mode: verify claims independently
- Flag contradictions between conversations
### Pass 4: Organize + Curate
- Run CONSENSUS mode: multiple passes converge on correct categorization
- Auto-generate topic categories from content (not predefined)
- Rank content by value (decisions > insights > discussion > noise)
- Connect related content across conversations
### Pass 5: Render
- Question-anchored view: each question is a node, answers branch from it
- Topic-grouped view: knowledge organized by auto-generated categories
- Timeline view: how thinking evolved across conversations
- Export as clean markdown/PDF
---
## Current State (as of 2026-03-28)
### What's Built
- PDF ingestion (8 PDFs, 477 pages extracted)
- Single-pass knowledge extraction (496 topics, 300 decisions, 100 insights)
- Semantic search via HNSW (27ms over 477 chunks)
- RAG (question → search → LLM answer with sources)
- 5-pass deep analysis (corpus overview, patterns, evolution, gaps, synthesis)
- Observer KB web UI (knowledge-first, not page-first)
- Upload portal with drag & drop
### What's Not Built Yet
- Integration with devop.live LLM Team modes
- Multi-pass processing pipeline (extract → validate → hallucination check)
- Q&A chain extraction (question → answer → follow-up mapping)
- Contradiction detection between conversations
- Curated document export (PDF/markdown)
- Question-anchored navigation
- Auto-processing on upload (currently manual script)
### What Needs to Happen Next Session
1. **Integrate with devop.live API** — call modes programmatically
2. **Build the multi-pass pipeline** — extract → validate → hallucinate-check → organize
3. **Q&A chain extraction** — questions as anchors, answers branching
4. **Auto-process on upload** — no manual script, pipeline runs automatically
5. **Render curated output** — readable, hand-it-to-someone quality
---
## Tech Stack
- **Storage:** Lakehouse storaged (Parquet on object storage)
- **Catalog:** Lakehouse catalogd (metadata, PII, lineage)
- **Query:** Lakehouse queryd (DataFusion SQL, hot cache, paged results)
- **Vectors:** Lakehouse vectord (HNSW search, RAG)
- **AI Processing:** devop.live LLM Team API (20 modes, multiple models)
- **AI Runtime:** Ollama (local models — qwen2.5, mistral, gemma2, nomic-embed-text)
- **UI:** Pure HTML/JS on :3400
---
## Non-Goals (for now)
- Real-time conversation ingestion (PDF exports only)
- Multi-user collaboration
- Cloud deployment
- Editing extracted knowledge from UI (read-only for now)
